Rick Williams, State Member for Pumicestone

was the guest speaker at BANG’s Social on Tuesday, 20th June.

Rick spoke about the Parliamentary committees he serves on and their
activities and aims, including the introduction of the bottle deposit scheme
and plans to reduce the use of plastic bags, as well as how State funding
had been spent in the local Beachmere area.

Bus stops and bus services, as well as a mooted Pedestrian Crossing near
Egan Street, were discussed.  However, the topic of most interest was how to
resolve the lack of a police presence in Beachmere, especially when a call
for assistance had been made.

Rick Williams offered to lead a delegation to the Police Minister and BANG
has taken on the role of activating a committee to achieve this

in early July of any residents who would like to be involved.

BANG President, Karen Harris, introduced the Beachmere Community Bank
Chairman and gave a summary of the upcoming BAM – Beachmere Art & Music
festival on Saturday, 1 July in Clayton Park.

BANG’s next Social evening will be on Tuesday, 19 September with guest
speaker Ms Susan Lamb, Federal Member for Longman.

 


BANG SOCIAL MEETING MARCH 21ST.

BANG welcomed over 40 people to their March Social meeting with guest
speaker Councillor Peter Flannery.

President Karen Harris spoke on current BANG projects and past achievements
highlighting the upcoming Movie In the Park on Saturday, 22 April and BAM –
Beachmere Arts & Music on Saturday, 8 July.

Councillor Flannery gave a brief overview of council projects in Beachmere
and answered questions on local topics including animal cruelty, changes to
council planning and updates to corporate plans, council responses to
resident queries and the possibility of free wifi in council libraries and
parks.

BANG’s next Social evening will be on Tuesday, 20 June with guest speaker Mr
Rick Williams, Member for Pumicestone.
