BACK TO BEACHMERE WEEKEND
Beachmere will celebrate its 150th Birthday in May 2020 and Beachmere Area Network Group’s Sesquicentenary Committee was busy organising events and activities over a fun-filled weekend.
Covid restrictions meant a change of plans and the celebrations and festivities have all been postponed until May 2021.
When Karen Wallwork started searching for support for some heritage signage, she developed brochures supporting local historical walks. When the information in those brochures starting “growing” Karen developed the idea of compiling and editing a history of Beachmere. The result is a wonderful compilation of stories, photos and personal remembrances in a written history of Beachmere entitled “Beachmere – Then and Now”.
The Sesquicentenary Program was to include:
- Book Launch & Gala Opening
- Beach activities and events including a Sandgarden comp.
- Street Parade & Mini Festival
- Bush Dance for all the family
- High Tea and “Wrap” Party with raffle draws & Silent Auction
These events will be rescheduled for May 2021.
Copies of the Book and other merchandise, which were pre-ordered, were made available and have made great reading for several months.
You can still order both the book and all the merchandise through our website or email. Order forms are also available around town and from the Beachmere Hub in Main Street.
Keep your eye out for posters and signs around town and for more information in your letterbox, on facebook and in local stores for all the information and updates about the 2021 Celebration dates…
